There are many religious related card and gift giving occasions. Here at Sophie Randall cards and gifts We have put together some notes to help people navigate these and mae the most of them:
Christening.
This is a Christian (including Catholic) ceremony of baptizing and giving a name to an infant.
Confirmation.
Confirmation is a rite of initiation in many Christian Churches. Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox Churches, and Anglicans, view Confirmation as a sacrament. In the East is conferred on infants immediately after baptism, but in the West is usually administered later at the age of reason or in early adolescence.
Baptism.
In Christianity, baptism is the sacramental act of cleansing in water that admits one as a full member of the Church. It can range from sprinkling of water on the forehead of the person to complete immersion in a large bath or even outdoors in a river or the sea. Most Christians, such as Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Lutherans, Anglicans, and Methodists are baptized as infants. Baptists and certain other groups baptize only after a person makes a a personal commitment.
First Holy Communion.
The First Communion (First Holy Communion) is a Roman Catholic ceremony. It is the colloquial name for a person’s first reception of the sacrament of the Eucharist. Roman Catholics believe this event to be very important, as the Eucharist is one of the central focuses of the Roman Catholic Church. First Communion is also celebrated by some Protestant denominations, particularly Lutherans. Celebration of this ceremony is typically less elaborate in Protestant churches that practice it. First communion typically happens around age 7/8.
Naming Day.
Naming ceremonies can be secular (non-religious) and religious (in some faiths) ceremonies. They bring family and friends together to ‘name’ an infant and acknowledge those who will play a role in guiding the line thus named.
